My experience at SkyAngels SkyAcademy is one I will NEVER forget. I knew going into the in-person training week I was going to learn a lot about the aviation industry but I had no idea that I would grow as much as I did.

It is still a bit hard to believe, within just one year, a decision to do something exciting, adventurous, challenging and rewarding turned into a reality as a flight attendant in the Los Angeles area. Building a career as a cabin attendant in the private aviation industry has helped me to realize how incredibly adaptable and persevering I can be. Understanding the limits you set in your mind is the first obstacle to overcoming them. Once you set your sights on the the sky, no one can tell you the limits.

From the moment the phone rings with a request for a trip, the standard is set. The manner in which a SkyAngel plans, communicates, prepares and executes should all be performed at 100%. To set the tone for what a SkyAngel has to offer, one must exude excellence in all that she does. This is the basis for what sets SkyAngels at the top, ‘’Soaring high’’.

As we wrap up our 8th year in business and I reflect back on the past years I couldn't be more proud of all that we have accomplished as a company and as a team.

The path has not always been easy and there have been moments when I thought we would fail, but we are still here and stronger than ever.

When people generally hear I am a corporate flight attendant, they ask how that is different from working on a commercial airline. That is when I start to glow and come to life sharing how I am a hospitality hostess of the skies for those flying on private jets around the globe.

This is the glitz and glam that happens after the hard work is done and the world becomes your oyster as you travel around the world on private jets from one exotic destination to the next with the world's most wealthy and most gracious private jet traveler. This is #askyangelslife.

The first time I ever walked through the sliding, glistening doors of the FBO (private jet terminal) and walked onto the tarmac and amongst the many private jets that sat there waiting for their next adventure just begging to go to somewhere amazing I knew I wanted to be a part of it - somehow.

There are many things I love about this industry, but here are the top three reasons why I love being a SkyAngel.

Juggling family, friends and flying IS possible and takes a good amount of energy but I have always been close to my siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, and, grandparents and will continue to be. In my opinion, you don't have to give up your family values to be in Private Aviation. You simply learn to do things a little differently then you would if you were working a 9 to 5 job.

As you may know, the SkyAngels' logo is an angel wing. Every graduate of SkyAngels SKYacademy receives their wing upon successfully graduating from our program. To graduate SKYacademy is no small feat, not all of the students who attend our training earn their wings, but for those who do, upon graduation, are given a gold wing to signify their commitment to make luxury travel more delightful for the private jet traveler. So, if you are a flight operator, broker, pilot, or aircraft owner and see the SkyAngels wing necklace around the neck of one of our Certified SkyAngels, you can rest assured she has the passion, drive, and commitment to provide a Delightful Experience for the private jet traveler, always putting her best foot forward.

As I’m writing this I am in a hotel far away from home and yet I feel so connected with my fellow SkyAngel sisters. I am constantly getting uplifting support from the SkyAngels community. That is the SkyAngels way. As a company we are committed to your success and want to see you soar.

Living a life of a SkyAngel changes the way you think about packing. Everything has a purpose and a proper place; if not- it doesn’t go. Frequently pilots and line crew say, “Wow this is the lightest Cabin Attendant suitcase I’ve ever carried!” in which I respond, “I’m a SkyAngel, I know how to pack.”

One of the greatest things I love about being a SkyAngel is the freedom this career has given me to travel the world both for work and for pleasure. People ask me where I have been and I always respond “Everywhere!” …at least that is how it feels.

I traveled to the Congo last summer. Solo, for three weeks. I didn’t tell my parents until a week before I left. I didn’t want them to have to worry any more than they needed to about having their little girl trekking thru, what is presumed to be, one of the most dangerous places in the world. (pssst! It’s not that scary.) Very few people in my life knew I was going until I was already there. I just had to go, for three reasons...

There is nothing that thrills me more than when I meet a kindred spirit. Someone who shares the excitement and passion that I do for private aviation. Trent is one of those men and I would love to share the story he so thoughtfully emailed to me one morning about his experience and joy as a Flight Attendant for the US military.

Once a flight is confirmed there is so much that goes into creating a delightful experience for the private jet traveler. It is amazing how many moving parts there are and how many different individuals are juggling these moving parts in order to create a flawless flight. A lot can go wrong, but a lot has to go perfectly in order to bring all these moving parts together.

I get this question A LOT from guests that I fly, people that I meet once they learn what I do, and of course from our SKYacademy students.

It’s fun to tell stories of the adventures I have been on and the things I have seen and experienced as a result of my career as a SkyAngel. Sometimes, like many corporate flight crew, I take it for granted and other times, most times, I am thrilled that I make a living from traveling the world on private jets, tending to the needs of the uber elite. It’s a career like none other and it’s fun!

Everyone believed I “had it all” as an international flight attendant and that I was living my dream. I had international flying, long layovers, and a new airplane. The lifestyle did seem unreal at times, but over the course of a few years, my commercial airline job wasn’t the vibrant and exiting existence that I wanted for myself. I desired a fresh adventure, and that’s when I became a SkyAngel.

Wow! My first flight! I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited when I got the call I wanted to squeal and jump for joy. I just couldn’t contain my excitement. Finally, all my hard work and perseverance was paying off. I was more than ready to start soaring, but there was still so much more I knew I had to do to prepare for my flight. I was ready for this moment.

Every day we receive many applications from individuals wanting to attend SkyAngels SKYacademy. These ladies want to travel the world as SkyAngels. But how badly do they want it?

During the application process, we speak with those we are considering accepting into SKYacademy and often, during these conversations, the applicant wants to know if we can guarantee work upon graduation. Our answer to this question is this…

Most of us, in our lifetime, have been called or heard the term “They are green.” which is generally meant to describe someone that is new to an industry, meaning they have little or no experience in the industry in which they are pursuing a career. It should NOT, however, be meant to suggest that the individual can not succeed or even be better at performing the roles and responsibilities of the position in which they pursue over someone who has been in the industry for years
